For this storybook, Hansel-and-Gretel-inspired residence by famed architect R. Harold Zook, Martire Custom Homes led a substantial whole-home renovation and rebuild. Only two rooms were left intact; the home's three-story footprint was rebuilt around them.
The work preserved and restored the home's defining architectural features while reworking it for modern life: the restored original fireplace, distinctive wood ceiling details, and Zook's signature spider-web motif carried through with care. This was the first major project Courtenay led entirely on her own, and it stands as an example of her renovation leadership, restoration sensitivity, material and fixture selections, and build direction from structure through finishes.
